Redefining Beauty and Building Community with Meg Smith

January 22, 2025

This blog is a space for thoughtful stories and real conversations. It’s where strategy meets storytelling, and where you might just find what you’ve been craving.
I’m Amy.

Sometimes, life’s most challenging moments become the launchpad for incredible transformation. That’s exactly what happened for Meg Smith, founder and CEO of Love, Lexxi. On the latest episode of Business Origin Stories, Meg shared how her personal struggles with body image and health led her to create a brand that redefines beauty, celebrates every body, and builds a deep sense of community.

Turning Hardship into Purpose

Meg’s story begins with years of body image struggles that culminated in a difficult chapter of her life. After becoming a mom of two, she chose breast implants in search of confidence, only to face debilitating health issues later diagnosed as breast implant illness (BII). For four years, Meg dealt with physical and emotional lows until she made the life-changing decision to explant in 2020.

What could have been an ending became a new beginning. Searching for a bra that felt both feminine and comfortable post-explant, Meg found the options sorely lacking. That frustration sparked a question: if she felt this way, how many other women did, too? With that thought, Love, Lexxi was born.

A Brand with a Mission

Love, Lexxi isn’t your typical intimates brand. From the start, Meg set out to create something bigger than just beautiful lingerie. She wanted a brand that not only addressed overlooked pain points—like uncomfortable wires and poorly fitting cups—but also uplifted women through every stage of life.

Since its launch in 2022, Love, Lexxi has grown into a community-driven movement. Whether it’s thoughtfully designed packaging, sustainable practices, or the heartfelt conversations Meg has with customers via Instagram, every element of the brand reflects its core mission: to make women feel seen, celebrated, and supported.

Building a Brand with Heart

In our conversation, Meg shared the building blocks behind Love, Lexxi’s growth—lessons that resonate with anyone building a brand with purpose:

  • Let Your Community Lead the Way: Meg listens closely to her customers. Their insights are the heartbeat of Love, Lexxi, shaping product updates and sparking fresh designs that reflect what women truly need.

  • Prioritize Thoughtful Details: From the unboxing experience to the fabric choices, every decision is intentional. Meg’s goal? To make every woman feel special.

  • Vulnerability Is a Strength: Sharing her own journey—from her health struggles to moments of doubt—has connected Meg to her audience in powerful ways.

  • Take Bold Leaps: Transitioning from a career in branding to launching a product-based business wasn’t easy, but Meg’s intuition led her to a path she felt called to follow.

What’s Next for Love, Lexxi?

Meg’s vision for the future is expansive. In the coming months, Love, Lexxi will introduce new sizes, colors, and designs to meet its growing community’s needs. There’s also an exciting new project on the horizon: a sister brand focused on tweens and teens. Meg’s daughters—her greatest inspiration—have already been part of the journey, and this next step will bring the mission full circle.

Finding the Beauty in the Journey

Meg’s story is a testament to resilience and self-discovery, offering a powerful reminder of how challenges can inspire meaningful change. Her path from self-doubt to empowerment reflects what Love, Lexxi stands for: celebrating the beauty of imperfection and embracing every stage of life with confidence. As Meg puts it, “Each day, I wake up and choose to celebrate myself. It’s messy, but it’s beautiful.”
